I am offering one to one yoga sessions and small classes, either to deepen your practice or to support a treatment program. Individual sessions are tailored exactly to your needs both in terms of your experience and interests, and your practical needs. For example, I am happy to teach a small group if you would like to get together with a few friends and do a class at a time that suits you, or to practice with your baby present if getting to a `normal´ class is hard for you with young kids.
I teach pregnancy yoga and help you to prepare for your birth, using posture, breath and developing understanding of the birthing body. Practicing yoga in pregnancy supports the health of mother and baby and helps you to trust in the inner wisdom of your body, so that you can approach birth with more confidence. I can also help you getting back into movement following birth.
I aim to support you to explore and enjoy yoga, through tuning into your own body and being guided by its innate intelligence. I draw my inspiration from the work of Vanda Scaravelli, who developed a profound and transformative way of practice that emphasises releasing tension and surrendering to the ground, allowing lightness and freedom to enter the postures. By not imposing forceful stretching and approaching each practice with alive and fresh interest we move away from mechanical and repetitive forms of asana. This is a way of inner exploration, enquiry and enjoyment, of self-discovery and self-acceptance. Although a gentle approach it can also be very strong, as profound changes happen when the body is not pushed. As we open the spine and undo our patterns of tension we find our way beyond the eternal muscle structures we so often rely on to hold us and can begin to respond to the natural flow of energy as it unfolds from within. By setting up the right conditions, body and mind can deeply relax.
I have been studying yoga for thirteen years. I´ve trained with Diane Long, John Stirk, Gary Carter and Suzy Daw. I qualified to teach in 2006 with Yoga India and am a Yoga Alliance certified instructor.
